Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce rich simple syrup
  • ½–1 ounce fruity red wine

Instructions

  • Shake 1 ½ ounces tequila, 1 ounce lime juice, and ½ ounce rich simple syrup in a cocktail shaker partially filled with ice until thoroughly chilled, about 15 seconds.
  • Strain into a coupe glass then gently float ½ to 1 ounce red wine on top using the back of a bar spoon.

Notes

To make a rich simple syrup: combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan over medium. Bring to a simmer and cook until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely before using.
Store simple syrup in a glass container with a tight fitting lid in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
